The presidential office called on North Korea to halt all missile launches that violate United Nations Security Council resolutions.

However, Kim's sister and senior official, Kim Yo Jong, dismissed Washington's gesture, stating that a shortened exercise did not alter its provocative and aggressive nature, with North Korea proceeding to fire a barrage of missiles on August 20.
